On February 20, 2019, in the European Parliament, a smurfy fire safety experience took place for the kick-off event of the #Together4FireSafety pledge campaign. This campaign calls for European Election candidates to pledge to work to improve fire safety in buildings for people if (re)elected for the next European Parliamentary term.

MEP Vladimír MAŇKA, Quaestor, a champion of fire safety who actively supports the work of Fire Safe Europe hosted this kick-off event. You can view his opening speech on the importance of tackling fire safety here.

Over 100 people including 20 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) came to support the kick-off event and to take a picture at the #Togetger4FireSafety photo booth with our Smurf mascot. 24 Fire Safe Europe members from all across the EU, as well as European firefighters also participated in the event, which received TV and press media coverage.

As of today, 24 MEPs have signed the pledge to improve fire safety. You can join the campaign either by pledging as a European Election candidate or by registering as a supporter of the campaign.
