The vote on the implementation report on the review of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) by MEP Doleschal took place in the European Parliament on 10th of March. With an almost unanimous result (686 for / 4 against / 5 abstentions), this is a clear call from the European Parliament to the European Commission for an improvement of the standardisation procedures in favour of safer and more environmental products.

Here are the texts adopted for the resolution on the implementation of Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products (the Construction Products Regulation) (2020/2028(INI)).

The CPR is a crucial piece of legislation for fire safety. To understand how CPR standardisation can enhance fire safety, have a look at FSEU’s position paper.

The European Commission has already presented several options for revision and will have to formulate a proposal probably before the end of the year. The ball is now in its court.
